Knowledge Base

Mục lục

Your knowledge base (KB) is the most important part of Dashi. It’s the information your AI uses to draft responses to customer messages. The more complete and accurate your KB, the better your AI responses will be.

What Goes in the Knowledge Base

Your KB should include everything a customer might ask about:

  • Business name and location — Address, landmarks, parking info
  • Hours of operation — Regular hours, holiday hours, seasonal changes
  • Services and pricing — What you offer and how much it costs
  • Menu or product list — Items, descriptions, prices
  • FAQs — Common questions and your preferred answers
  • Policies — Booking, cancellation, refund, payment methods
  • Languages spoken — Languages your staff speaks
  • Contact info — Phone, email, website
  • Special notes — Anything unique about your business

Building Your KB

There are several ways to add information to your knowledge base:

Business Assistant (AI Chat)

The easiest way to build your KB is through the Business Assistant — an AI chat interface available during onboarding and anytime from the dashboard:

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click Edit with AI.
  2. Chat naturally — tell the AI about your business in your own words.
  3. The AI extracts facts and organizes them into your KB.
  4. The KB preview on the right side updates in real time as the AI makes changes.

You can speak in any language — the AI understands and translates.

Document Upload

Upload files in the Business Assistant chat and Dashi extracts the relevant business information:

  • PDF — Menus, brochures, price lists
  • Word (.docx) — Business documents
  • Excel (.xlsx, .xls) / CSV — Service lists, pricing tables
  • Text (.txt, .md) — Any plain text
  • Images (.jpg, .png, .webp) — Photos of menus, signs, or documents

Drag and drop or attach a file in the chat. The AI reads it and updates your KB.

Website Crawl

Paste your website URL into the Business Assistant chat. Dashi crawls the page and extracts business information like hours, services, and location.

Platform Auto-Crawl

When you connect Facebook or Google, Dashi automatically pulls available information (business name, address, hours, category) and suggests adding it to your KB.

Manual Editing

You can directly edit your KB text in Business Settings:

  1. Go to Business Settings.
  2. Find the Knowledge Base section.
  3. Edit the text directly — it’s stored as simple text (up to 20,000 characters).
  4. Click Save.

KB Suggestions

When you edit an AI draft before approving it, Dashi learns from your correction. It analyzes what you changed and may suggest a KB update:

  1. You receive a draft: “We close at 9pm.”
  2. You edit it to: “We close at 10pm on weekends.”
  3. Dashi detects the factual correction and suggests updating your KB with the new weekend hours.
  4. You see the suggestion in Business Settings — click Accept or Reject.

This feedback loop keeps your KB accurate over time without manual maintenance.

Tips for a Great Knowledge Base

  • Be specific — “Open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm” is better than “Open most days.”
  • Include prices — Customers frequently ask about pricing. Include your most common services and their costs.
  • Update regularly — When your hours, menu, or services change, update the KB. Or just tell the Business Assistant and it will update for you.
  • Cover common questions — Think about the last 10 questions customers asked you. Make sure the answers are in your KB.
  • Keep it concise — Stick to facts. The AI doesn’t need full sentences — bullet points work great.
